Cancellation Severe Thunderstorm Warning

for Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Capricornia Forecast Districts.

Issued at 9:36 pm Friday, 28 February 2020.

Severe thunderstorms have now weakened or moved offshore.

cancellation severe thunderstorm warning for the following areas:
Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Capricornia
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in QUEENSLAND.
The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
A wind gust of 93 km/h was recorded at Cape Ferguson at 9:19pm.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

No further warnings will be issued for this event.

Initial Minor Flood Warning For The Suttor River
Issued at 12:01 PM EST on Friday 28 February 2020
Flood Watch Number: 1

Minor flooding may occur at St Anns on the Suttor River during Friday evening.
River level rises have been observed in the upper Belyando and upper Suttor Rivers as a result of rainfall during last weekend and early parts of this week.
No significant rainfall has been recorded in the 24 hours to 9am Friday. No significant rainfall is forecast for the next few days.

Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding may occur along the Suttor River at St Anns following recorded river level rises along the upper Belyando and upper Suttor Rivers, and Mistake Creek.
The Suttor River at St Anns is currently at 3.75 metres and steady.
River levels at St Anns may reach around the minor flood level (4.00 m) Friday evening.

Moderate Flood Warning For The Connors And Isaac Rivers And Minor Flood Warning For The Dawson River

Moderate flooding is easing on the Isaac River at Yatton.
Isolated heavy rainfall particularly over eastern parts of the catchment has occurred over the last few days.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible Friday, but are expected to ease over the next few days.

Dawson River to Theodore:
Minor flooding is occurring across the headwaters of the upper Dawson River with a flood peak between Taroom and Theodore.
The Dawson River at Taroom is currently at 5.19 metres and rising.
The river level at Taroom is likely to remain above the minor flood level (4.50 m) during Friday.

The Dawson River at Theodore is currently at 8.82 metres and rising slowly.
The Dawson River at Theodore is expected to remain above the minor flood level (8.00 m) during Friday. The river level may peak near 8.9 metres overnight Friday into Saturday.

Dawson River downstream of Theodore:
Minor flooding is expected along the Dawson River downstream of Theodore.
The Dawson River at Moura is currently at 6.10 metres and rising.
The river level at Moura is expected to remain above the minor flood level (6.00 m) during Friday.

No observations are available at the Baralaba manual gauge but the river level is expected to be around the minor flood level (4.0 metres) and rising based on the nearby automatic gauge.
The Dawson River at Baralaba is expected to remain above the minor flood level (4.00 m) during Friday and continue to rise over the next few days.

Connors and Isaac Rivers:
Moderate flood levels are continuing to ease on the Connors and Isaac Rivers.
The Isaac River at Yatton peaked at 12.20 metres around 01:00 pm Thursday 27 February and is currently at 11.31 metres and falling.
The river level at Yatton will remain above the moderate flood level (9.50 m) during Friday. The river level is likely to fall below the moderate flood level (9.50 m) Saturday.

Mackenzie River:
Small river level rises are occurring in the lower Mackenzie River around Tartrus during Friday.
The Mackenzie River at Tartrus is currently at 7.81 metres and steady.
The Mackenzie River at Tartrus is expected to remain below the minor flood level (11.00 m) going into the weekend.

Fitzroy River:
Small river rises are occurring along the Fitzroy River below the junction of the Dawson and Mackenzie Rivers.
The Fitzroy River at Rockhampton is expected to remain below the minor flood level (7.00 m) into next week.

Final Flood Warning For The Don River

Flood Watch Number: 3

River levels are easing at Bowen Pump Station on the Don River, following a peak just below the minor flood level overnight.
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast for the remainder of Friday, with the possibility of locally heavy falls. Renewed rises are possible and the situation will continue to be monitored. Warnings will be issued as required.

Don River:
River levels are easing on the Don River, however localised heavy falls may result in renewed river level rises later Friday.
The Don River at Bowen Pump Station is currently at 1.85 metres and falling.
